Frequently Asked Questions
- Sales Information
1 Are
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Electric the same
company?
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is sometimes confused
with Mitsubishi Electric. Although the companies share the
Mitsubishi name and the famous logo, they are separate companies
in every way. Mitsubishi Electric was formed in 1921, and has
also seen world-wide expansion of its operations, the most
familiar to us in the UK are probably TV's and video recorders.
In air conditioning the two companies have different factories and product ranges.
They compete for market share in Japan and overseas, and have completely separate
distribution arrangements.
The origins of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, MHI, go back to the last century,
shortly after the foundation of the first Mitsubishi companies in 1871.
The involvement of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
dates back to 1915, when it first manufactured refrigeration plant for ships.
MHI now manufactures air conditioning and heat pumps systems, cold storage refrigeration
systems, compressors for car air conditioning, coach and bus air conditioning
units, refrigeration units for road and marine transport containers, large absorption
and turbo chillers, and district heating and cooling plant.
MHI is one of the largest suppliers of split systems to Europe, and has an extensive
range of packaged systems and variable refrigerant multi systems. Its production
plant at Nagoya manufactures over 2 million units per year, and its ongoing investment
in research and development ensures its position as a global leader in technology,
quality and reliability.
